Bio
In 2009 (Sophomore): Callie started 56 games at
catcher for the Golden Eagles in her sophomore year...ended the
season second on the team with six home runs and 24 RBIs...had the
big game against Southeast Missouri (3/28), hitting a grand slam
and a double to drive in six of her 24 RBIs on the season...went
2-for-3 with a home run in Tech’s final game of the season
against UT Martin (5/9)...had eight multi-hit games, including a
2-for-2 game against Kennesaw State (2/14) when she drove in two
RBIs and scored two runs...named to the Athletic Director’s
Honor Roll.
Before Tech: Played her freshman season at Heartland
Junior College in Normal, Ill., where she was named second team
all-conference and made the all-tournament team at nationals.
High School: Callie lettered in three sports:
softball, basketball and volleyball...in softball, Callie was the
starting catcher for three years under coach Carrie Swanson...her
senior year, she helped carry her team to a record of 29-4, the
best in the program’s history...in her junior season, she
batted .487 with 18 doubles and two home runs.
Personal: Callie Brooke Schmidt is the daughter
of Russ and Christie Schmidt of Spring Valley, Ill...birthday is
May 1, 1989...majoring in exercise science.
